Peter Singer Visits Impact Institute and True Price for a Conversation on Ethics, Altruism, and Impact-Driven Economics
Last Tuesday, we had the honour of welcoming renowned philosopher and ethicist Peter Singer to the Impact Institute and True Price office. Known for his reputable work on animal welfare, effective altruism, and ethics, Singer joined us for a conversation on the intersection of our work.
We discussed the urgent need to build an economy and mechanisms where impact is considered before financial value, and where ethical responsibility takes a central place in business and policy decisions. From corporate responsibility to the treatment of animals in global supply chains, the exchange of ideas showed the deep alignment between Singer’s lifelong work and our mission.
The visit included a trip to De Aanzet, the world’s only supermarket that applies True Pricing – a method that reflects the real environmental and social costs of products, such as Bananas. It was a powerful example of how values shape market systems in action.
Having one of the world’s most influential living philosophers take interest in our work was beyond inspiring. We’re grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas with Peter Singer and continue advancing toward a more conscious and just economy.
