Fairtrade and Impact Institute publish a cocoa household income study
Good news for the Fairtrade chocolate!
A study carried out by Impact Institute and Fairtrade reveals that Fairtrade cocoa farmers in Côte d’Ivoire have increased their incomes by 85% over the past several years and that a greater proportion have moved out of extreme poverty. This increase is mostly driven by the higher revenues from the sales of cocoa and the diversified income sources of the farmers, including in-kind and off-farm incomes.
