Impact Data Developer

We are looking for an impact data developer to strengthen our Technology team. The team develops datasets like the Global Impact Database, and software to enable our clients to make impact-driven decisions.

Your role
As an impact data developer, you will be part of a team that continuously improves the data products, by researching potential data sources to keep our products up to date, designing methodological changes and implementing them in a scalable way.
Your responsibilities
You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of our data products and have responsibilities such as:
- Exploring, researching, and analysing potential data sources
- Pre-processing of data, cleaning, standardising
- Designing and documenting data models in line with impact methodologies
- Writing readable code for new features of the models
- Writing clear documentation of new updates
- Exploring, analysing, visualising, interpreting and validating results
Depending on your background, you can also contribute to making our data products more scalable, by:
- Proposing and making improvements to the design of our databases
- Suggesting changes to the code base to make it scalable
- Evolving our data infrastructure in Azure
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will have
- Strong drive to contribute to a better world and ambition to make the world sustainable
- 2-6 years relevant work experience in e.g. data science, data analytics, sustainability, development
- Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, evidenced by a relevant degree or academic achievements (e.g. econometrics, computer science, industrial ecology, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering) and/or professional track record
- Ability to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders about technical issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Critical mindset
- Experience with coding or willingness to learn (Our current data stack: SQL, Python, F#; Typescript, React are used for web development but not needed for this role)
- Bonus: experience with cloud management (e.g. Azure, AWS)
